23 metres long, 2 metres high. Built on site during a metal art residency at Protagon e.V., Orberstrasse 57, Frankfurt am Main.
Inspired by the dynamics, the work and the powerful energy of the resident international theatre group "Antagon Theater Aktion" – founders and organisers of this unique space.
The project replaced the old fence by transcending the concept of barriers, limits, and frontiers – giving the public space an inspiring artwork that can pull a passer-by into another state of mind.
A lot of the material came from Antagon's stage design workshop – square and round pipes, flat bars of different widths and thicknesses. Plans for the main structure were drawn on site at scale; the filling was improvised between.
The whole design started from the idea of an abstract eye form that would catch light. From the circle, dynamic curved shapes with vegetal textures evolved. The ceramics are by Lieselotta Friedel.
