Metal, forged. Berlin.
Sculpture, furniture, and architectural metalwork. A solo practice by Byse – Berlin.
CommissionWhere the hand meets the steel.
A practice at the crossroads of craft, art, and architecture – built around drawing, the forge, and the welder's torch.
I work primarily in steel and iron, sometimes in brass and copper for their patina. The work moves between three registers: autonomous sculpture, furniture and lighting, and architectural elements integrated into private and public buildings.
Each commission begins with a conversation about the place and the intention. From early sketches, through the workshop, to the chosen finish, each piece is shaped to deserve the space it will occupy – and the time the metal asks for.
Three registers.
One practice.

Byse – Jean Robert, working from Berlin.
A solo practice in metal – drawn, forged, welded, finished by hand. The workshop is based in Berlin, with commissions delivered across Europe for architects, private clients, and cultural venues.
Trained in metalwork and drawing, with a practice rooted in the workshop and a steady interest in how an object holds its place in a room, a building, or a landscape.
Carry an idea.
Bring it to steel.
If you carry a project – a piece, a building, a setting – I would like to hear about it. Most commissions begin with a short exchange about the place, the use, the rough budget and timeline.
